Interests

To interest someone is to excite or hold his curiosity and attention, for whatever reason. Interests are one of the positive factors influencing creativity. As Storr (1988: 73) points out,

Hobbies and interests are often aspects of human beings which most clearly define his individuality, and make him the person he is. To discover what really interests a person is to be well on the way to understand him. [...] Everyone need interests as well as interpersonal relationships; and interests, as well as relationships, play an important part in defining individual identity and in giving meaning to a person's life.
